Biology Computer Resource Center
The BCRC is a Macintosh Computing Facility
in the Department of
Biology located in Morrill Science Center
(map), at the University of
Massachusetts. If you have questions, please send email
to bcrc-help@bio.umass.edu
or call 545-3631.
Pictured right: Samar Parikh, one of the fierce, but helpful, student consultants in the BCRC.
During the academic year, the BCRC is staffed by student consultants Monday through Friday
from 9am - 9pm. Summer and intersession hours are unofficial, but the
facility is usually open anyway. The
Director
collaborates with faculty and students to
develop resources and
course websites. Don't hesitate to contact
us if you're looking for technical support in using instructional
technology!

BCRC News
Sigelonta
The printer "sigelonta" can be accessed two ways: as a b/w printer
and a color printer. In order to conserve resources, the BCRC allows
color printing only of pages you authored yourself for a final-print
in a paper or poster. Toward this end, only staff users can print to
this queue. To print pages in color, you can ask a BCRC
staff member to authenticate for you and to print only those pages
you need in color. Black and white printing on sigelonta is available
to anyone with an account. Feel free to use this queue when provizonta
is unavailable or busy.
Updates
We've installed some recent updates in the BCRC -- we now have the newest
versions of Neooffice and Firefox. We're also tweaking configurations: the
mice in the BCRC should now let you right-click -- even though there's no right
button, the mouse can tell when you're right clicking.
