Cod Serum Vg and Maturity

from AL 98-11, AL 99-03 and GL 99-01

Table I.   The correlation between visual assignment of maturation state by visual inspection of the ovary (left axis in yellow) supplemented by immunological characterization using anti-cod_Lv-serum (top axis in blue).  The number of true positives (green background) and the number of apparent falsifications (pink background) are interpretive hypotheses of the use of the antiserum.

I - should have no Vg.

R - should have stopped Vg synthesis.
U - rare individuals during these cruises.
S - might have Lipovitellin (Lv) from involuting follicles which would react with Ab
