SOFTWARE FOR PLANAR GEOMETRY OF LANDMARK DATA written by Joseph G. Kunkel The enclosed software was written and used by J.G. Kunkel to analyse insect wing landmark data. An accompanying program, reapit.exe, allows reaping text files of landmark data into binary files for the programs use. Directions for use of the Planar 1.0 version of the program are found, along with sample data files in self extracting archive files in this directory. All files are available as PK-ZIPed files. This directory contains several programs designed to run on IBM type PCs. They were written to be compatible with VGA and downward graphic adapters. They will direct text output to epson and ibm compatible printers. Graphic output is also directable to various Epson and IBM graphic output printers. Two selfextracting .exe files are available in PCprograms directory as zipped files: plansfx.exe and sfx4_92.exe. In addition an executable, plan_ran.exe, is an updated executable which adds several features for dealing with large data-sets, improving upon the executeable packaged within plansfx.exe. The executeable sfx4_92.exe contains a simpler program that might be less frustrating to learn than the more advanced plan_ran.exe. These programs will run in a DOS window of Windows 95. In earlier Windows environments it is better to exit Windows and run the programs in DOS mode. All files have beeen zip compressed and require an unzip utility. The resulting unzipped file is a PC executeable '.exe.' file. The selfextracting .exe files are best extracted in a directory specially created to contain these files. After the initial extraction, additional selfextracting files will be revealed which can be run to create additional directories to hold sample data.
