Red-spotted Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens)
Richmond, A. R.
One of the most common and most beautiful of the Massachusetts salamanders. This is the juvenile, terrestrial state of the Red-spotted Newt.
These animals are often found after rains, on the roads in the hills around U-Mass. This one was photographed during a field survey conducted by Alan Richmond
