Bordeaux Mountain

Bordeaux Mountain is the island's highest summit at 1,277 feet above sea level.  In one day, our class hiked from VIERS along the Lameshur Bay Trail (16), up to the Petroglyphs and sugar mills (15), up to the Bordeaux summit, then back down the Bordeaux Mountain trail (18) to VIERS.  Needless to say, it was a long hike, but not too difficult and the view was definitely worth it.

At the top of Bordeaux Mountain, there were restaurants and tourist shops, and one shop especially popular with us that sold all kinds of refreshing drinks.  Next to the shop, someone had set out a dish filled with sugar and bananaquits were swarming all over it, filling the tree and making a racket.  It was ironic that we'd been trying to catch glimpses of  these birds around camp and on birdwalks, and here they were en masse and quite unafraid of us.
