Microtubule Dynamic Instability

Microtubules display a non-equilibrium dynamic behavior termed dynamic instability in which individual microtubules stochastically switch between periods of growth and rapid shortening. In the following movies, the dynamic behavior of individual microtubules is observed in diverse cells.
