:: Graduate Student Receives Awards ::

October 2004: Almaris Alonso, a Microbiology Ph.D candidate, was the recent recipient of an Educational Grant Award from the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) to further her study of biofilm formation by thermophilic actinomycetes. Ms. Alonso was also an award winner for a presentation given at the 2004 National Conference of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). Ms. Alonso is currently a Ph.D. candidate with Susan Leschine in the Department of Microbiology.
