Biology Seniors Attend Luncheon

Around 80 graduating seniors and 200 of their family and friends joined Biology Department faculty and staff in the Franklin Dining Commons for a luncheon to send off our newest graduates. (View Photo Gallery of photographs from the event.)

After lunch, graduates were called up and recognized for outstanding research, the Nutting Fellowship, and for the Kofi Cash Award.

"It was particularly nice to spend an afternoon focusing on all the good things our Department does for our majors," said Rolf Karlstrom, the Biology Department Chairman. "I heard some amazing stories of appreciation."

The Dining Commons outdid itself, offering prime rib, a chocolate fountain, and other delights for the special experience.

Afterward, the students and their families joined graduates from other departments in the College of Natural Science filling the Mullins Center, for a Senior Recognition Ceremony where students received a medal and traded in their mortarboards for a baseball cap as new alumni.

Congratulations, Class of 2013!
