CourseWiki - Plant Cell Mechanics

The mechanical behavior and growth of plant cells are examined in a large number of papers, but much remains uncertain about even basic qualitative structure-function relationships for the plant cell wall. The purpose of this wiki is to collect the current state of knowledge about the behavior of plant cell walls, and how this relates to their molecular structure and to the behavior of plant cells.

Please add your notes and conclusions from papers, linked by author.

Update on mathematical formulas: There is a plugin for phpwiki (TeX2png) that will convert LaTeX to an image that will be visible in-line. It is not yet available on the UMass wiki farm but if we are lucky it will be set up before too long. You can check out the syntax at http://brainyplanet.com/index.php/TeX2pngPlugin if you are interested.

In the mean time, we have the option of converting formulas to images ourselves and posting them at some accessible URL so that they can be included in a wiki document. For the conversion, one can use the web script at http://hausheer.osola.com/latex2png. I think a resolution of 150 dpi looks pretty good.
