Claire Fong

My name is Claire Fong and I am a Biology student in the class of 2023 at UMass Amherst. I am also a member of the Commonwealth Honors College and follow the pre-med track. Upon joining the lab as a sophomore, I engaged in various ongoing projects involving genotyping via PCR/gel electrophoresis; cell proliferation; brain growth, and more. During my junior year, I received sponsorship from the RichCo Undergraduate Zebrafish Research Award and the research I am now conducting as a part of my Honors Thesis focuses on the toxicology of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). More specifically, I am investigating how PFAS affect zebrafish nervous system development.
