SketchFab This Spring 2019 example of level 3 ESD is an exemplar of the Sustained Vulnerability Model of ESD. It shows all 3 distinct levels of ESD penetration through the cuticle epicuticle, exoculticle and endocuticle layers. It shows that the vulnerability is ustained through the winter and suggests the ESD is nucleated throughout the lobster molting cycle year and that there are likely healthy looking lobsters in the Fall that nevertherless are vulnerable to ESD establishing itself through the winter. Lesions develop in a symetrical pattern suggesting that it is a symetrical vulnerability rather than a random attack by an organism.
