Failing to Repair Syntelics Leads to Aneuploidy
Spinning disk confocal live-imaging of an S2 cell with the chromosomes in red, and the microtubules in green. In this case, the syntelic attachment (right side) fails to be corrected in a timely manner and both sister chromatids are pulled towards the same pole. This is a dangerous outcome since the resultant daughter cells will be aneuploid.
